Nora Miller’s perfect suburban world is shattered one May day when her husband disappears while watching a White Supremacist rally in a public park. Set in the 1970s when, like today, conflicting ideologies tear at the fabric of society, Enemy in the Garden reveals the anti-Semitic strain that lies just below the surface of American life.

In her quest to find her husband, Nora faces official indifference and the betrayal of friends, all while coping with her traumatized teenage daughter and son. Alone, she depends heavily on the private detective she hired to track her husband. What she and he ultimately discover will shock and dismay readers.

Nuclear Beach is a novel of what should not happen to any community. Cass Golden, editor of the local newspaper and Jacqui, a 20ish eccentric young journalist, doubt the safety of Big Island's newly-opened nuclear plant. She and Cass trace a fish kill to a radiation leak in the plant's ocean outfall pipe. When Cass confronts the utility's president, he admits nothing and instead tries to bribe her with a job on his public relations staff.

Changing water temperatures cause the plant's ocean pipe to crack and break, precipitating a nuclear blowout. The nuclear core breaks through the earth's crust in several places. As the radiated air floats toward Shore City where 500,000 people live, the wind catches an old newspaper with an ironic ad headline still legible: "BILCO, a Better Way of Living."
